2020 Recap: Tell me if you’ve heard this before… The Alabama Crimson Tide won the National Championship! For the sixth time in 12 years, Nick Saban captured yet another title. This may have been his most complete team on both sides of the football. The offense was potent. Though they lost Jaylen Waddle to an injury, DeVonta Smith stepped up. He put together the best season I’ve ever seen from a wide receiver at the collegiate level and won the Heisman. Another undefeated season, another SEC conference title and national title. This is something we can just expect from them on a regular basis.
Notable Departures: QB Mac Jones, RB Najee Harris, WR Jaylen Waddle, WR DeVonta Smith, C Landon Dickerson, DB Patrick Surtain II, DT Christian Barmore & LB Dylan Moses.
2021 Prediction: Many players left for the NFL which is bound to happen. But, I don’t see that affecting this team. They will claim the SEC West once again. Bryce Young will replace Mac Jones at quarterback, they’ll be loaded at running back and they will restock the offensive line and receiving corps. While Alabama led the SEC in scoring defense last season, one thing they must improve is limiting the big plays down the field. Also, getting stops on third down will always be crucial for them.
