Special Preview- (Week Six, NCAA Football)
(14) Tennessee Volunteers at (3) Georgia Bulldogs
Tennessee: It’s 2020. This is the year where you must expect the unexpected. In the SEC, you often hear about the Alabama Crimson Tide, the LSU Tigers, The Georgia Bulldogs, and the Florida Gators. Now, there’s one team that’s been sliding under the radar. That’s the Tennessee Volunteers. Since Jeremy Pruitt was hired as the head coach, the team plays harder. At the moment, they’re 2-0 in a jam atop the SEC East. This is my type of football team because they run the football and they have one of the more physical offensive lines in the country. The reason why they’ve succeeded thus far is that they’re taking care of the football. The mistake-free ball will win you games. This is an important game for them on Saturday against a strong division rival in Athens.
Georgia: Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect from them this year. An appearance in the national title game, three straight trips to the SEC championship and they’ve won the SEC East the last three years. On Saturday against the Auburn Tigers, it was a complete effort. First, Kirby Smart made the best decision in starting Stetson Bennett at quarterback. There were some miscommunication issues early on between him and his receivers, but it got corrected. When you think of Georgia football, three things come to mind. First, they will always have a solid ground attack. Secondly, they have an offensive line that bullies you and lastly, they have a stingy defense. They’re back home for another showdown this week.
Tennessee X-Factor: LaTrell Bumphus– He’s one of their best pass rushers. In Tennesse’s game against Missouri, their defensive line bulled the Tigers offensive front. This is where the Senior will be key on Saturday in Athens. A good rush sets the tone for a defense.
Georgia X-Factor: Zamir White– The running game always helps a new quarterback. Expect the same impact from Zamir until Bennett is more comfortable. What I like about his game is how downhill of a runner he is. He wants contact but also has the speed to break away.
Final Analysis: These SEC games mean more early on now because it’s a condensed schedule. Here, we have two SEC East teams in a big-time battle. I have some advice for Georgia. Stay focused on what’s in front of you! There’s a big game next week. Whatever happens in this game, the next opponent will be there. The Vols need to pressure Bennett. He had too clean of a jersey last week. Georgia needs to dominate the line of scrimmage. When they do, nobody can beat them.
Prediction: Georgia 27 Tennessee 14
