2020 Campus Cruise: SEC East Prediction

2019 Recap: Since the hiring of head coach Dan Mullen, the football program is trending in the right direction. Under Mullen’s watch, they have won 21 games in two years. They’ve also finished in the top ten in back to back seasons. Filling in for Feleipe Franks, Kyle Trask established himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC. This group plays hard for Mullen which I can appreciate. Their statement win last season came against the Auburn Tigers at the Swamp. They finished their season winners of the Orange Bowl over the Virginia Cavaliers.

Notable Losses: RB Lamical Perine, WR Van Jefferson, WR Freddie Swain, DE Jonathan Grenard, DE Jabari Zuniga, LB David Reese & DB C.J. Henderson.

2020 Outlook: It’s close atop the SEC East between the Georgia Bulldogs and these Gators. I’m picking Florida to win the division for the first time since 2016. We could see a quarterback competition as the season approaches. Emory Jones is a talent that can’t be ignored. This offensive line needs to improve across for a successful year. They will also return four starters on the line which should help. The Gators will lose two receivers, but the cupboard isn’t bare. Tight End Kyle Pitts will be a contributing factor along with receivers Trevon Grimes, Jacob Copeland and Kadarius Toney should form a strong group of pass catchers for Trask. Although the defense is losing playmakers, they should still perform at a high level.
