2022 Recap: They had one of the biggest turnarounds in all of sports last season. Let’s look back at the 2021 season. The Green Wave of Tulane only won a total of two games. They would enter last season as the laughing stock of the conference and no expectations under seven-year Head Coach, Willie Fritz. That’s the thing about sports, you just never know what will happen next! Tulane went out and shocked the world! They defeated the Kansas State Wildcats, a team who won their conference title game and finished 14th in the nation, a revenge victory over the UCF Knights and a Cotton Bowl victory over Heisman winner, Caleb Williams and the USC Trojans.
Key Departures: RB Tyjae Spears, WR Duece Watts, WR Shae Wyatt, LT Joey Claybrook, LB Dorian Williams, LB Nick Anderson.
2023 Prediction: The sky is the limit for this program and I expect them to pick up where they left off in 2022. They will receive a boost with Quarterback Michael Pratt, Offensive Lineman Sincere Haynesworth and Running Back Shaddie Clayton-Johnson (Spears replacement) all announced they would return for another season. This offense can score with the best of the best. In 2022, the Green Wave averaged 36 points per game and a little over 500 yards per contest. Coach Fritz will have his men ready to compete for yet another conference title in 2023. They have key games against Ole Miss, UTSA and Memphis to name a few.
