1. Arizona Cardinals: They became the first team in the league to win ten games. I’m impressed. Kyler Murray also appeared to look as if he didn’t miss a beat in his return from injury as he accounted for a total of four touchdowns. They haven’t been slouches at all with some impressive wins this year. Also, they are undefeated on the road and it’s tough at times to go on the road and win games. They’ve done it with ease this year. The Cards will get a test tomorrow night when they face the Rams in a huge divisional showdown.
2. New England Patriots: Bill Belichick continues to show why he’s still the best head coach in the game today. That gameplan on Monday night was amazing. Mac Jones only threw the football a total of three times. Yes, you read that correctly. Three times. The Patriots ran the football and Buffalo couldn’t do a thing to stop it. It’s good to know the running game is still a contributor in today’s game. The Patriots won that game with a ground attack and defense. With Baltimore losing last weekend, the Patriots moved into the top seed in the AFC.
3. Green Bay Packers: So, here’s what I see happening. The NFC is traveling through one of two places in the playoffs. State Farm Stadium in Arizona or Lambeau Field in Green Bay. The Packers have been banged up as of late, but around this time, everyone is nursing an ailment or two. Against the Rams a few weeks ago, the Packers were able to get Aaron Jones back. This week, Jaire Alexander returned to practice. The one thing I’ll be watching is the health of Aaron Rodgers. They can’t afford to lose him during a pivotal run in the season. Green Bay returns to action tonight against the Bears. You know, the team Aaron owns.
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Tom Brady is leading the league in passing attempts, completions, passing yards and touchdowns. As we expected, the Buccaneers are running away with the NFC South. While the offense continues to click on all cylinders, I’m still concerned about their defense because they don’t scare me now as they did around this time a year ago. Too many big plays are given up for my liking. Brady could very well win the league MVP if he and the Bucs finish strong.
5. Kansas City Chiefs: They have won five games in a row. That’s great and all considering where they were earlier in the year when they looked lost. However, something still doesn’t look right with their offense. I see a group that still isn’t adjusting to what defenses are giving them. Mahomes has zero touchdown passes and two interceptions in his last two games. The defense on the other hand has been the MVP of the team. Just imagine if the offense and defense were each on the same page. That’s a scary thought.
