1. Alabama Crimson Tide– It was another week with another victory and here they are at 9-0 and on pace to finish the regular season unbeaten. In their game last week against LSU, they had trouble consistently sustaining drives along with running the football which is their bread and butter as they averaged 3 yards per attempt, but Jalen Hurts bailed them out and took matters into his own hands. They won their seventh straight game over their rivals and 18th consecutive win at home.
2. Georgia Bulldogs– They’ve won the SEC East and are very deserving of the accomplishment. As of now, they have their sights set on much bigger goals. This team feels they can win the SEC Championship and they feel they can win the whole thing. You must have confidence in yourself. They came out the gates struggling against South Carolina but got back to playing Georgia football with a large serving of their running game and Jake Fromm throwing the football. They have another big game today against Auburn in a potential playoff eliminator.
3. Notre Dame Fighting Irish– They were able to escape the injury bug but win another game to keep themselves in the playoff conversation. Brandon Wimbush and the offense had to put up 48 points to win their seventh straight game. Although Josh Adams was injured, the Irish still racked up 383 yards rushing. That’s impressive. This could be their biggest game on the schedule tonight against their rivals, the Miami Hurricanes under the lights for Saturday Night Football.
4. Oklahoma Sooners– Last week was a Heisman-esqe moment for Baker Mayfield. With a 62–52 shootout that had the feel of a boxing match. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State cemented the Big 12’s anti-defense reputation in Bedlam. The Sooners rolled up 785 yards of offense, led by Baker Mayfield, who threw for 598 yards and five touchdowns. The Sooners did just enough to pass the latest test in its quest to get back to the playoff. Tonight is another possible elimination game against the TCU Horned Frogs.
5. Clemson Tigers– They survived quite the battle against the NC State Wolf Pack and have almost wrapped up their division for the third straight season. I’m still not necessarily sold on them and every week, I never know which Kelly Bryant will show up. Somehow, the committee elected to keep them in the playoff picture. Let’s see how this all pans out.
