Campus Cruise: 2025 AAC Preview (Part I)

2024 Recap: It was a new chapter for the program last fall as new Head Coach, Jon Sumrall picked up where former Head Coach Willie Fritz and helped lead the Green Wave to their conference title game with a 9-5 record. In the last three seasons, Tulane has finished first or second in scoring defense in the AAC and I’m not expecting that stat to change once again. As an offense, they averaged 35 points per game in 2024 and allowed 20 to their opponents.

Key Departures: QB Darian Mensah, NT Parker Petersen & EDGE Matthew Fobbs-White.

2025 Prediction: I don’t see this group missing much of a beat even after losing their Quarterback from a season ago. I like the Green Wave to finish in one of the top two spots in the AAC once again and make it to the conference title game in Coach Sumrall’s second year as Head Coach. Tulane has options at Quarterback such as Kadin Semonza, Donovan Leary and Brendan Sullivan will all fight for the starting job. Also, the Offensive Line was retooled through the transfer portal and on the defensive side, UTEP transfers Maurice Westmoreland and Kameron Hamilton will be tough for opposing Offensive Lines. Sam Howard, who has become one of the top defensive players in the conference is also returning this fall. I like Tulane to finish with an 8-4 record in 2025.
