2024 Recap: In just his second season as Head Coach, Kenny Dillingham took this program to new heights and led them to a conference title and playoff appearance in their first year as members of the Big-12. This was the first time winning a conference title since the 2007 season and here’s what’s even crazier: Many projected them to finish in last place with a 3-9 record in 2024 and they completely shocked everyone which is why you can’t always listen to the so called “experts”. In the new 12-team College Football Playoff, they were one of the top four seeds and their season unfortunately ended in a thriller against the Texas Longhorns on New Year’s Day.
Key Departures: RB Cam Skattebo, RB Alton McCaskill, DT J. P Deete.
2025 Prediction: The Arizona State Sun Devils are still the team to beat in this conference until further notice, and they return a large chunk of their roster from last season including Quarterback, Sam Leavitt. Replacing Cam Skattebo will be a challenge as he added play making and was a threat each time he was on the field for them. With Sam returning, he gives them a chance not only to win the conference, but lead the Sun Devils back to the CFP. Sam also proved he has what it takes to be a top-tier Quarterback in the nation with his poise and play making ability. As I mentioned up top about players from last season returning, 16 to be exact will suit up again for Coach Dillingham which will provide continuity and experience for another run.
